Managing Your Time

As with any long-term plan, you need to be able to manage the time that you have available. This means you need to be able to balance family, work, and personal time and it’s not always an easy thing to do in this fast-paced world. Here are a few hints to help you manage your time:

  1. Plan your time a week in advance – block out sections of your day, and plan your activity well ahead of time.

  2. Be flexible with your time. Reschedule, but don’t reduce your training time.

  3. Balance! Take time for family and work, but keep enough time to do the things you need to do to reach your goals. If this means running early in the morning, do it.

  4. Every lap, mile, step, or lift should have a purpose. Focus on moving forward and stay efficient. Train for your goal.

  5. Schedule for problems. Allow time for injuries, emergencies and unexpected events.

  6. Learn to disconnect. Put down the cell phone, disengage from social networking, and allow yourself to focus on the simpler things in life
